This guest house holds the prime position on the Gajanur Dam of Shimoga with excellent views of the river. The riverside gives an unrivalled experience of rural India.
It is designed to be built on the embankment of the Dam and overlooking the water body. The design direction was greatly influenced by the current site context with water on three sides, the powerhouse at the front and mixed vegetation on the periphery.
The guest house is surrounded by a corridor which leads to a sit-out area. The open air balcony overlooking the water body and surrounding vegetation creates a serene experience giving character and shape to this building.
The combination of reflection due to the river and the sunlight adds a filter to the masterpiece making it aesthetically pleasant. The form and the palette used in the guest house merges well with the background.
“Its like an image with a boat tied to a river bank.”
In sync with the exterior, interiors are designed. The interior design follows the art to enhance the space and to achieve a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the people using the space.
The interior follows the contemporary and minimalist design. It contains forms, clean lines, and simple finishes. However, the minimalist decorating style concentrates on the principle that less is more.
