PROJECT IDEOLOGY

“This home is conceptualized to be minimal in design giving more importance to space usage and functionality.”

A home coherent in terms of its space utilization and its aesthetics, which is the reinvention of Indian classic styles in a modern approach, is what we call an INDIAN CONTEMPORARY HOME. This 3 bedroom home with double heighted living room, library, kitchen and dining is an exploration of it.

The 2 basic materials wood and granite in contrast with the white color, forms the overall material palette.

In sync with the concept of planning, the interiors and exteriors are executed with the same design dialect.

The facade being the most integral part of the design sets the character and personality of the home. It forms the skin of the house which provides enclosure to the users.

It guides the entry of air and sunlight inside the home and the sunlight renders the exterior and enhances the home with its shadow games.

The amalgamation of stone cladding, fundermax and the white finish dominates the glance of the house and the configuration of balcony, windows and walls with their individual values results in asymmetrically balanced facade.

The garden as a punctuation mark completes the residential space. It makes the users feel as if they are “Included to the natural environment”. It is then connected to the parking area.

In the entrance porch, the granite flooring and the planter box towards the left sets the homely vibe.

The living room in the ground floor spills out into the garden space with a porch shielded from the harsh sun by steel roof structure.

The allure of the lawn and the delicacy of the house satisfy the “PICTURESQUE THEORY”, which was derived from the idea of designing a landscape which will look like a picture.

To sum it up, this home keeps aside all the formal layers of life and helps the users to be in a tranquil surrounding.

The house follows the shabby and chic principles, softer and opulent and the bedrooms with gypsum ceiling and Italian marble flooring are the epitome of it. The elements in the bedroom, the color scheme, furniture, ceiling, wood work, layout and the accessories all are in a perfect balance.

The wallpaper texture creates drama and gives life to the space. The bedrooms are connected with the bathrooms through walk-in-closets inducted with lacquered glass. The evocative transparency and the playful reflection of these lacquered glasses distribute the light and illuminate the space.

“We should not judge a book by its cover but it’s fair to judge a home by its foyer, because a home is defined by a person’s experience and it starts from the foyer. It contains a perforated partition which hides the staircase behind it and forms a background for the Buddha sculpture which brings peace and harmony to home.

Toward the right of the foyer there is the living space and its double height ceiling adds vertical depth to the room. Few minimalist artworks which blend well with the overall color palette and the CNC partitions are the quintessential elements which are used to break the monotony of the space.

Towards the left of the foyer we have a string stretched from the pooja room at the front to the kitchen at the back with a dining in-between. The open plan and the strong connection between the kitchen and dining enable interaction and encourage cleanliness.

The use of granite in the staircase is regarded as a symbol of strength and status. The staircase opens to the first floor with a library and a family space following the same material language.

The bay window adds volume and greets the northern glare free light to the space creating a cozy reading retreat. Inclusion of indoor plants regulates the indoor air quality and displays greenery.
